AFter 5 years, Explore! has had to close. We appreciate your patronage over the years.
We have been given the opportunity to donate a majority of our supplies and equipment to an orphanage in Zimbabwe, Africa. If you'd like to join us in helping these children, please contact us through our Facebook page.
Is it too hot, too rainy, too cold to play outside? Running out of fun things to do with your children? Looking for a fun indoor play place to take the kids? We are the only indoor play place in the Lake George / Glens Falls Region for families with young children!!
EXPLORE! is a family activity center focused on science and imagination. We offer a wholesome alternative to video and arcade amusements for families with crawlers to pre-teens. A huge 4-story climbing loft is the center-piece and has a ball-pit and 19-foot high corkscrew slide. Families can work together to build their own ball roller coaster or lock boats down the canal in our 16 foot long water table. They can also sail the seas on our pirate ship or defend the castle as knights or princesses. Or, they can take care of the animals in our veterinary hospital or cook up some healthy food in our restaurant. Everyone can also learn about turtles, crabs, sea stars and other creatures that live in our Nature Center as well as how to take care of our waterways in WaterLab. We offer birthday parties, Stories & Crafts, Kindermusik, Stuff-n-Fluff (make your own stuffed animal) parties and other special events.
How EXPLORE! got started:
The idea for Explore! came from being a stay-at-home mom when we first moved here in the summer of 2004. I felt there were not enough indoor activities for my pre-school child and second grader. After talking with other moms about this need in our community, the idea began to take shape. My husband and children were my advisors, and God provided the inspiration. We've been open for 4 1/2 years now, and I'm really enjoying myself. This is a fun, feel-good business. Nothing is better than having moms and dads thank you for being there. In addition, we have members who come regularly so that we get to know them and their children - you can't beat getting a running hug from little ones who are thrilled about being in your place of business. Every day, we get "Christmas morning" wide-eyed excited looks from children who arrive for the first time! I also love being able to have my children here with me after school! And I enjoy looking for more ways to partner with the community and our local families to develop healthier, more wholesome ways to spend time with our children.
Something for everyone - even the adults!
We have a unique feature - our adult reading lounge - a large, sound-proofed room with lots of interior windows so parents can sit in a quiet, comfortable area and still watch their children. We always have complimentary coffee and tea on hand as well as some other goodies. Three licensed/certified practitioners offer spa services both here and in our treatment room - massage, manicures, pedicures, facials, and waxing. There's WiFi available for laptop work as well as current periodicals and a lending library. We also offer Aikido classes for adults through Kinetic Symmetry Aikido Martial Arts.
What the community should know about EXPLORE!
EXPLORE! is a clean, wholesome place for families to gather - for parties, for playgroups, for school field trips, for scouting events - - or just to get out of the house and blow off some steam. We will have fulfilled our purpose if children are able to play well with others, stretch their imaginations and get some exercise so they can sleep well at night. In addition, we want moms and dads to have a chance to refresh themselves through play, relaxation or a bit of pampering so that they can be happier parents. We're always looking for new and interesting ways to educate and entertain your families and hope you will consider Explore! a partner in your parenting efforts! We also feel it is important to give back to the community, so every month, through our Neighbor to Neighbor program, we "adopt" a local charity to support.
